My job at NEIU is mainly focused on teaching undergraduates, which is great because that’s what I love to do! NEIU is a Hispanic Serving Institute (HSI) in Chicago that has been repeatedly acknowledged as having the “most diverse student population” amongst regional midwest universities. This means that I have many students that are first generation college students, underrepresented minorities, and non-traditional age. It’s exciting for me to work with this population of students because I get to expose them to careers they may not have considered and eventually change the profile of the scientific community to better reflect our population.
Check out this section for info on courses that I teach and links to resources. I’m always happy to discuss biology education, so leave me a message in the comments!
